Eat your veggies, but not really

Nic and I are on the torture train of trying to lose weight. It's coming off, slowly but surely. I'm compiling quite a few recipes that are tasty, and jive with the whole "skinny California people vibe". Oh how I want to be a skinny Californian. I can picture a Californian mom standing in her kitchen with her defined calf muscles and accidental tan (from her daily runs on the beach) preparing this dinner. It cuts the mustard.

Stuffed Peppers

6 peppers (any color) Tops removed and innards gutted.
1 lb lean hamburger
1 1/2 cups cooked rice
1 chopped onion
tsp garlic salt (season more to taste)
pepper to taste
1 tsp basil
3/4 cup ketchup ( chili sauce is good too to mix with ketchup)
1 15 oz can tomato sauce
1/2 - 1 tsp tobasco or hot sauce
Shredded cheese to melt on top

Brown beef with onions. Mix in rest of ingredients, minus the cheese. Fill peppers to the top and sprinkle with cheese. Place peppers in deep casserole dish. Fill dish with about 1/3 cup water. Cover with foil or tight fitting lid. Bake on 375 for about an hour. I feel skinnier just writing about it!
